WIWW: Comfy in My Own Skin

So last week I revealed my new hair color; which I am still loving. Even the people who tweet for Loreal commented on how cute my hair and shoes were! In fact, it seemed like everywhere I went friends and strangers alike where commenting on how good it looked. Honestly, I was feeling pretty good about it. But then I opened my email account and received a second opinion from a stranger. They shared a few comments about my appearance that didn't include words like cute or lovely. And I realize that's life. I can't control what other people think about me. I simply can't.

While it made me sad; it also made me realize that I need to be comfy in my own skin. I may not be the prettiest girl that ever walked the face of the earth, or the skinniest, smartest, fastest, etc. You get the idea. But the point is; God made me the way I am, and if I don't embrace that, I'm going to waste the rest of my life wishing I was someone else.

So I'm choosing to be the girl who wears a tank top in November simply because I wanted a little extra color in my day. I'm the girl who has bow shoes and I'm not afraid to wear them! I'm the girl who loves skinny jeans even if they don't fit my knees correctly. I want to be true to myself, even if not everyone likes it.

  1. Aww you are cute! I love your outfit, shoes, and hair! It's sad that people feel the need to tear others part. No one ever taught them "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Well at least you took the high road and have enough confidence in yourself and God to not let it bother you.

  2. I think you look lovely! And, I really appreciate your attitude about the negative comment - God made you beautifully! :)

    Stopping in from WIWW!

  3. I love the colors!

  4. I love that you are so young and have already come to this realization- I spent so much time in my 20's and 30's feeling insecure, then finally realized- I am what I am- and I'm going to love being ME!
I think you are adorable and I love the bright tank - the colors are perfect for a gray day.

  5. I love your outfit! Especially the printed top and the bow flats. And I have to say I think your hair looks really cute too.

  6. Good for you! Don't ever let the unkindness of others get you down. Someone told me a very long time ago to remember that people who say or do mean things are very sad inside, so we should sympathize with them. Wear your pretty hair color with pride!

  7. You are You and You are beautiful!!! Love that you're embracing it and leaving the ugly email behind: )

  8. I love those shoes.. Too cute!

Im working on embracing me too! Just go for it girl rock your look :D

  9. I love your outfit and the colours. The colours pop and make you look awesome. Don't worry about what other people say, usually when people are putting us down is because they have their own insecurities.

  10. i have to remind myself all the time that you can't please everyone. it doesn't matter what you do or say, someone will always have something negative to say. make yourself proud and the rest is details. p.s. i think you're very squeezable.

  11. You are absolutely adorable! Don't listen to anyone who tries to tell you any different :)

  12. You inspire me! Your bravery and beauty to be who you are. Don't let others take that from you! OK now I'm wanting to go shopping for some yellow shoes. :)

  13. I just came across this from Annie's facebook I don't know what color your natural hair is...but I'm a blonde and I've dyed my hair brunette a few times, and for every compliment I get I also get a "why in the world did you do that" or "what did you do to your hair" comment. It amazes me that people have no filter, but good for you for not letting it get to you :)
