Crossroads

I'm at a bit of a crossroads these days. I've had to take a lot of time off this summer to battle against mono, so as a result I've done a whole lot of thinking, reflecting, dreaming, and planning. I'm slowly teaching myself to do a little more of what I love, and a little less of what I don't want to be doing. And surprisingly, it's moving me forward in exactly the direction I want to be going! I guess they call it dream chasing for a reason!

I'm learning to let go of Plan A. My dreams have shifted and changed over the last couple of years. I spent my whole life training to be a teacher between babysitting, nannying, summers as a camp counselor, and then a degree an early education. And then I landed my dream job as a teacher, and I loved almost every moment of it. I didn't leave because I hated it. I left because I realized that I had more dreams inside of me that would never be fulfilled inside a classroom. But the more I chase after certain dreams, the more different opportunities present themselves. So I'm slowly taking small steps forward in faith and seeing where this path leads me. I have a feeling that the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013 are going to be filled with decisions and new adventures!

  3. Right now. I feel like I'm in a similar situation (that you were in). Currently, I'm fulfilling my college dream. I've got the job I dreamed of and I'm enjoying it. However, I've got this aching desire to get up and paint constantly. It's always been my passion. I've always loved it. But, it's always been a hobby. (Note: hobby) Recently, as just a side job - I opened an Etsy store and have been selling some products on Facebook. It's ignited a fire. For now I'll stay put, doing the job I planned and dreamed of - but, I'm not letting go of the painting/crafting dream either. As the shop continues to grow, I may be faced with a choice... for now, I stay - in the future, I may go. :) Not a comment filled with advice. But I will conclude by saying that I'd rather have a job I love and be poor, than a job I hate and be rich. So follow your dreams, no matter how big or small. (Cliche I know.)

  11. Stopping by from the link up...
I know what you mean. Sometimes the best career move for you is to follow what you want. I did it, and I left all my family and friends wondering why I did it, but I did it to make me happy. Doing what makes me excited to wake up in the morning and chase my dreams is why sometimes coming to a crossroads is the best thing that can ever happen to someone!

  12. I do understand crossroads. I'm at one in my life. I recently lost my job due to organizational restructuring...my job was not restructured. So now, I feel like I can restart my career path if I really want to. I can do what I was doing, non-profit sector OR go back to working with kids (education). OR go to grad school. All could be great choices, it's more about what do I choose?!? So many possibilities and I really don't know. I wish you the best!
