The first step of chasing big dreams is almost always the hardest. They say its what separates the dreamers from the actual dream doers. The fear of the unknown can be one of the most debilitating reasons why we don't ever dip our toes in the pool.
I can't tell you the number of excuses I've made up in order to not take the first step. In part, I'm very type A and I like to know the big picture, which makes it harder for me to take the first step in faith. But you have to ask yourself this; "a year from now, what will I wished I had started today?"

My challenge to you is to figure how what that first step may look like, and then take it. It can even be a teeny tiny baby step. You have to start if you want to see your dreams come to life, and today is your day!

I am trying to decide if I enjoy being a teacher or if I haven't dedicated the time into LOVING being a teacher. I'm not sure if my first year of teaching is a good indicator because my school was having a lot of abnormal issues.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of anything else I would rather do, but it doesn't mean I am not sometimes open to whatever option that would be.
How did you decide you wanted to pursue something different? Did you know you wanted to pursue something different or it came over time?

Sometimes it's hard to actually identify purpose, you know? Great series - I really admire you for jumping into 31 days of the same topic!
ReplyDeleteI actually took my first step by finally creating a blog a few months ago. It was scary and still is just about every day because I think "it doesn't make a difference" or "no one really cares" or "get over yourself" lol But I have big dreams and blogging was a first step to getting there. :) I'll be following your series!
ReplyDeleteI am doing my own 31 day series for the first time as well!

I finally took the first step and applied to grad school! And got accepted! Now to get up the courage to quit my horrible, horrible job. THAT is what I'm struggling with.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I have lots of big dreams but usually end up talking myself out of them before I ever make it to that first step, but recently I have developed a "go for it" attitude and "going for it" isn't as hard or as scary as I thought it would be. Thanks for the encouragement!
