3 Tips for More Happiness

My friends sometimes call me Merry Carrie, mainly because I'm happy about 99.9% of the time. In fact, the cashiers at target have accused me of my happy being too loud at 8am in the morning. I don't think I've always been super happy but over the past few years I've trained myself to find more joy in the little things. So I'm sharing a few of my happiness tips with you!

1. Serve others. Every morning when I wake up, I often pick one person who I want to serve that day. It can be something super easy such as sending a tweet or a text message. It can also be as detailed as writing a handwritten note or mailing them flowers. I truly believe that it helps to start the day by not thinking about solely yourself.

2. Volunteer. I feel like this is similar to serving others but can vary slightly. I believe that volunteering does just as much for you as for the people you are serving. Volunteering usually leads you to be a bigger community of people which can lead to more friendships, etc. Not to mention, it usually uses your greatest strengthens and talents, which the world needs.

3. Gratitude. This one is my favorite. I started a gratitude journal a few years ago and it was a game changer for me. At the end of every day, I write down 3-5 things that I was grateful for throughout the day. We live in a culture that really thrives on the "more. The more I spend time thinking about what I have that I love the more I stop crave things I don't have. Don't get me wrong; I still love target, but it makes me appreciate the things I have in my own life a little more.

  1. These are fantastic! It's funny how the things that can make us the happiest have little to do with buying something or making something happen for ourselves. It's much more about giving to others or appreciating what you already have. I started a gratitude journal but have let it fall to the wayside. I need to start it up again, because I've noticed how much more joyful I am when I write in it, and how many more things I notice to be thankful for!

  5. Happiness is basically depends upon our way of living and way of thinking. We can emotionally attach to people and things and from that, we are getting happier. It is simply an attitude and behavior that, we should develop in our lives. There is no such way to develop happiness, we should only develop our way of thinking and after that, we can get happiness from little things also.
